Union Civil War Veteran Soldier. Born in Harrisville, Pennsylvania, he was the son of Abijah McLain. He later moved to Cincinnati, Ohio and served in the Union Army during the Civil War. McLain enlisted with the 36th Ohio Volunteer Infantry and was mustered into Company B. He was married to Emeline Cunningham. McLain died at his residence in Chicago Heights, Illinois and was returned to Cincinnati for burial next to his wife.
