Mrs. Irvin Boozell
Viola Cox, daughter of Gideon and Nancy Cox, was born in Hamilton county, Illinois, on March 27, 1865 and died at her home west of Melcher on June 11, 1925, being 60 years, three months and 15 days old.
When a girl of seven she went with her parents to Chicago where they lived until she was seventeen, when the family moved to Russell, Iowa.
On February 9, 1882 she was united in marriage to Irvin Boozell of Russell. There came to bless this marriage seven children, six of whom survive. They are Mrs. Ollie Cox, of Oklahoma City, Okla.; Gideon Boozell, of Chariton; Mrs. Mary Sprague, of Delaware, Okla.; Frank, of Melcher; Mrs. Viola Crowley, of Melcher; Mrs. Icyle Dahbalt, of Melcher. One daughter, Mrs. Jessie Palmer, preceded her mother in death on Jan. 28, 1921.
She is also survived by her husband and two brothers and two sisters, Nicholas Cox, Gideon Cox and Mrs. Mary Mohena, all of Delaware, Okla., and Mrs. Ella Burch, of Denver, Colo. She leaves twenty-five grandchildren.
Mrs. Boozell was converted and united with the Trinity Evangelical church in 1895.
Funeral services were held at the Russell Methodist church Saturday afternoon, January 13, at two o'clock. Rev. James Walls, Rev. Archie Beals, and Rev. C. A. Claypool, pastor of the Trinity Evangelical church, participated in the service. Interment was in the Russell cemetery.
