Alberta "Peaches" Emma Radicke Boenig, passed away Dec. 27, 2008, at the age of 89. Alberta was born in La Vernia, Texas to William "Willie" Radicke and Mary Zunker Radicke, Nov. 8, 1919. Her family moved to Gillet in her early years where she attended grade school. In the early 1930s her family, including three sisters Elizabeth, Edna and Ruby Lee, moved to Seguin. Attending school here she met the love of her life, Herbert "Sonny" Boenig. They married in January of 1936 and became the couple known as "Sonny" and "Peaches," few people knew her given name.

Alberta became "Hon" to Sonny and Mom to her three children, whom she is survived by: Allen Boenig and his wife Gloria, Joyce Harborth and her husband Kenneth and Bob Boenig and his wife Frances, all of Seguin. Her six grandchildren affectionately called her, "Grammy," Robin Harborth Gerlich and husband Dwayne of La Vernia, Rebecca Harborth Newton and husband Kurt of Kingsbury, Crystal Boenig Campbell of San Marcos, Keith Boenig and his wife Lisa of Seguin, Boots Boenig and his wife Megan of Ft. Worth, Dusty Boenig of Buda, Texas. Her 11 great-grandchildren, Brig and Brock Gerlich, Kandace, Justin and Tyler Newton, Shay and Chase Boenig, Garrett, Walker and Carpenter Campbell and Harleigh Boenig. She is survived by one of her sisters Ruby Lee Wolma of San Antonio and nieces and nephews. One sister-in-law Isabel Boenig Turner and her husband Jesse of Seguin. She is preceded in death by her husband of 68 1/2 years, Herbert "Sonny" Boenig, her parents and two sisters Edna and Elizabeth.

"Peaches" was a dedicated wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, "Her family was her world," she spent her life working on the family dairy and raising her three children. She had few personal needs, her family always came first, being a good homemaker, excellent cook, she enjoyed cleaning and working beside her husband. She was of the era of "The housewife," never having a job away from home, but was one of the hardest working people you could have ever known. Her auburn hair, sparkling blue eyes, hearty laugh and sweet smiling were most distinctive; she loved listening to soap shows since before TV, became an avid football fan, camping and coyote hunting with Sonny, and enjoyed trail riding and dancing. There were few Saturday nights that you did not see Sonny and Peaches on a dance floor. She was viewed by many and certainly by all her family as one of the sweetest, kindest, and most loving person you could ever ask to know. She will be missed by all her family and friends who were blessed to be touched by such a beautiful individual.

Visitation will be held Monday, Dec. 29, 2008, from 6-8 p.m. at Goetz Funeral Home. Funeral service will be Tuesday Dec. 30, 2008, at 9:30 a.m. at Goetz Memorial Chapel followed by interment at San Geronimo Cemetery.
