OXNARD, CA. - Karen Aikins, 61, of Oxnard, California, died Monday, July 5, 2004, at Ventura County Medical Center, Ventura, California.

She was born Dec. 23, 1942, in Parsons, Kansas, the daughter of Lloyd and Reva (Hatcliff) Ferguson.

She graduated from Erie High School in 1960 and from Chanute Junior College in 1962.

On June 6, 1961, she married Russell Aikins in Vallejo, California.

She moved to Santa Monica, CA, in 1974.

She was familiar with fashion design and worked for the Jones Company, Independence, Mo. She was a seamstress and sewing instructor.

She attended Methodist churches.

She enjoyed scrapbooking, photography, and walking.

Survivors include a son, Bradley Aikins, Oak Ridge, NC; two daughters, Alexis Aikins, Houston, TX, and Shannon O'Doul, Agoura Hills, CA; two brothers, Lewis Ferguson, Laguna Niguel, CA, and Lloyd Ferguson, Albuquerque, NM; two sisters, Carol Ferguson, Spokane, WA, and Kathy Bourne, Sugar Land, TX; three grandchildren; a step-sister, Shirley Lundy, Independence, MO; and a step-brother, Robert Glentzer, Independence, MO.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, July 10, 2004, at Erie Federated Church, Erie, KS, led by the Rev. Larry Jordan. Burial will be in Star Cemetery, near Neodesha, KS.

Memorials to Erie Federated Church may be left with the funeral home.

Carson-Wall Funeral Home, Parsons, KS, is in charge of arrangements.
