Our beloved Mother, Sister, Grandmother and Great Grandmother, Ivy Berry Rytting, 88, passed away peacefully at her home on June 12, 2009. Her steady hand and generous loving spirit will be greatly missed by all of her loved ones and friends.

Ivy was born October 28, 1920 in Cedar Fort, Utah to David Allen Berry and Fanny Alice Reid.

She attended Schools in Cedar Valley and Lehi and was passionate about sports as a young girl including fast pitch softball and horseback riding.

Mother married our father, Leland David Rytting, in the spring of 1942 and worked in a munitions factory during the war. Dad's lengthy service in the military took our family all over the country to Colorado, Wyoming, Alaska, and Texas.

She worked for F.W. Woolworth's in management for much of her adult life and retired in 1985 in Anchorage, Alaska after 25 years. She lived in Anchorage for most of her retirement years until moving back to her home state in 2004.

She was a devoted lifelong member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and served in many callings throughout the country. She always enjoyed her special times spent in temple sessions.

Ivy was a constant guiding influence, inspiration, and example for her four daughters and their children. Her steadiness and love will be felt for many generations.

She particularly treasured her days spent at the Holladay Senior Center playing bingo and pinochle with neighbors and friends. Her flower garden was her pride and joy and she relished the short walk fronting her roses, irises and peonies and her sightings of hummingbirds.

She is survived by her four daughters, Gloria Jean Johnson, Cynthia (Bob) Bowen, Patricia Ann Rivas, and Janet Lee (David) Andrew; as well as 13 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren, her brother Glade Berry and sister Maxine Sparkes. Pedeceased by her parents, brothers, John Aaron Berry, Reid Berry, and her sisters, Veva Berry, Donna Cook, and Larue Duncan.

Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, June 17, 2009 at 12:00 Noon in the Olympus Eighth Ward Chapel, 4430 South 2700 East, where friends and family may call from 10:30 - 11:45 at the Church.
Interment at the Cedar Fort Cemetery.
