Word was received here today of the death of George G. Deem, a merchant whose place of business was at the head of Slate near the Wirt county line, which occurred very suddenly Monday night. Mr. Deem was a member of one of the pioneer families in the upper end of the county and was a man who was highly respected being a splendid citizen. He was about sixty years of age and is survived by his wife and a family of children. The funeral services will be held at Big Tygart church on Thursday and the interment will be in the church cemetery.
