My great great grandfather. Born in Tuscany, Italy, he was disowned by his family after keeping money that he was supposed to bring to them after selling a product in America. He stayed in America, married an Irish-Canadian woman, and had seven children, five of whom survived into adulthood.
In America, he originally owned a restaraunt in the North End. When that failed (according to my grandfather, his business partner ran away with the money), he became a gilder. He eventually moved his family out of the North End, and he lived in Charlestown the rest of his life. He died in 1923.
