Harry "Gene" Dalton of Mitchell, IN, formerly of Bedford, IN, died Saturday, March 22, 2003, at the Bedford Regional Medical Center. Born on January 25, 1936, in Lawrence County, he was the son of Woody and Lucretia (Goens) Dalton. He married Alice D. "Loid" Bell on June 6, 1965, and she died on January 13, 2001.

Surviving are three sons: Chigger Dalton of Mitchell, IN, Robert and Steve Dalton, both of Bedford, IN; three daughters: Beth Guthrie of Mitchell, IN, Teresa Dalton of Trinity Springs, IN, and Christie Crider of Sneedville, TN; two brothers, Kenny Dalton of Bedford, IN, and Jack Dalton of Las Vegas, NV; two sisters, Sue Hack of Mitchell, IN, and Donna Gentry of Washington, IN; thirteen grandchildren, and one great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by his wife, his parents, and one granddaughter, Ashley Nicole Dalton.

He retired from Central Foundry and was a veteran of the U.S. Navy. He was a member of the First Church of God in Mitchell, the Eagles Lodge #654, and the American Legion Gillen Post #33.

Services for Harry Dalton will be at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, March 26th, at the Day & Carter Mortuary with Pastor Chad McIntosh and Kenny Dalton officiating. Burial will follow in Tunnelton Cemetery with graveside military rites accorded by members of the American Legion Gillen Post #33.
