Douglas Wayne Powell, 47, of Idaho Falls, passed away June 12, 2009, at Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center of natural causes.
He was born Sept. 4, 1961, in San Diego, Calif., to Phillip Wayne Powell and Patricia Rae Webster Powell. He was raised by his grandparents, Boyd and Greta Pettingill. He attended schools in Rexburg.
He married Wynona Ann "Wendy" Elder Chapman on March 1, 2001, in Idaho Falls. He worked as a collector for Rocky Mountain Power. He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, four-wheeling and spending time with his family.
Survivors include his wife, Wendy Powell of Idaho Falls; stepchildren, Misti Chapman, David Chapman Jr. and Megan Archibald, all of Idaho Falls; mother, Connie Powell; siblings, Keith Pettingill, David Lybolt, Rick Lybolt, Casey Webster, Harmony Williams and Celeste Roper; and five grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his father and grandparents, Boyd and Greta Pettingill.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Friday, June 19, at Wood Funeral Home, 273 N. Ridge Ave., with David Lybolt officiating. The family will visit with friends from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday and for one hour prior to the services Friday, both at Wood Funeral Home. Burial will be in Fielding Memorial Park.
