Anna was born in Standard, LA. on January 30, 1934, and had been a resident of Shreveport for 49 years. She entered into heaven on Saturday, January 19, 2002 following a lengthy illness.
She is survived by her husband of 48 years, Walter E. Smithey; one son, Eddie Smithey of Shreveport, LA; one daughter, Charlotte Beadles and husband, Jim of Shreveport, LA.; three grandchildren, John, Michael and Benjamin Beadles all of Shreveport, LA.; four brothers, Calvin and Robert Fowler both of Shreveport, LA., Carl Fowler of San Diego, CA., and Jimmy Fowler of Baton Rouge, LA.; one sister, Maurine Long of Greenwood, LA.
Anna graduated from Winnfield High School and managed her husband's business, Walter E. Smithey Builder for 17 years. She was a member of Broadmoor Baptist Church, the Sanctuary Choir and the Seekers Sunday School Class. She sang with the Women's Choral Ensemble for many years. Anna loved to bowl and was a member of the WIBC (Womens International Bowling Congress) and bowled in numerous leagues.
Pallbearers will be E. J. French, Gary Long, Joseph Norris Long, Jr., Norman Fowler, Robert Fowler and Clifton Beasley.
The family request that donations be made to the American Cancer Society, 1599 Clifton Rd., N.E., Atlanta, GA. 30329.
