Paul was born in Birmingham, Alabama, October 30, 1914, the son of Thomas and Frances Bennett. He was the youngest with two brothers and a sister. Mobile, Alabama, was home to the Bennett family and where he met his future wife, Evelyn, and had a son, Paul Jr. The extended family moved to Galveston, Texas, where son Tom was born. During Paul's working life in Texas, he worked for Todd's Shipyard in Galveston, served in the US Navy and worked for Union Carbide in Texas City for over twenty-five years. Over the years Paul was active in scouting, baseball, and church activities of all manner, including choir, teaching, volunteering and coaching softball. There was no limit to his heart. After seventy years of marriage, Paul lost his wife Evelyn in September, 2008. Paul is survived by two sons and their families. Paul Jr.'s family includes wife Mary, daughter Kimberly, son-in-law Rick Myers and two grandchildren, Clayton and Makayla. Tom's family includes wife Kathleen, two daughters Jessica (now deceased) and Alicia. Alicia and Amit Kshatriya have three children, Ethan, Adia and Leela. In addition, Mary Slocum of Montevallo, Alabama has been part of the family for over fifty years. Nieces, Judy and Diane, and nephew Hubie reside in Jackson, Mississippi, with their children and grandchildren. Honorary pallbearers are Harlan Jillson, Amit Kshatriya, Bob Montgomery, Glynn Moore, Richard Myers and Robert Weikel. Visitation was held on Friday, June 12, from 7 to 9 p.m., will be held at Forest Park Westheimer Funeral Home, 12800 Westheimer in Houston. A graveside service will be held at Forest Park East, 21620 Gulf Freeway, Webster, Texas on Saturday, June 13, 10 a.m. Paul was consistent, compassionate, loved a good joke and was a fine example of humility.
