Mrs. Mary J. Ross, 72, relict of George Ross, died early Monday morning at the home of a daughter Mrs. Edna Lueders. She had been in poor health for several months. The funeral will be held at 1:45 this afternoon from the Lueders home to the Perryville Lutheran Church, of which she had been a prominent member for many years, and burial will be in the Lutheran cemetery. Services will be conducted by her pastor, the Rev. A. M. Lohmann. Mrs. Ross was born in Perry County on Nov. 19, 1862, a daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Michael Hoffstetter. She was married Aug. 21, 1881, at Frohna to George Ross, and the couple came to Perryville in 1883. In 1901 Mr. Ross purchased the Ross Hotel, which he and Mrs. Ross operated until 1919, when they turned it over to their daughter, Mrs. Edna Lueders. Of the four children born to the couple, three are living: Mrs. Lueders of Perryville; Laura now Mrs. M. J. Roschke of St. Louis, and William A. Ross of Brownsville, Texas. She also leaves two brothers, Emanuel and Theodore Hoffstetter of Perryville. Her husband died May 24, 1932, at the age of 73 years.
