Edwin worked for the California Corrections Department at Folsom Prison, as a police officer in Davis, California, and retired from the Southern Pacific Railroad where he was a yard master. He was a member of the Army Air Corps during World War II, serving in England during the war, but claimed to have been a member of the Army to his family.

My brother, sister, and I traveled to San Francisco, California, where our Uncle Bob (my father's brother Robert E Wieger) took us by boat out on the bay and we put his ashes in the bay ourselves.
