Stephen served in Revolutionary War 1 Jun 1778 to 1 Mar 1779 in Captain Richard Cox's Company in the Third New Jersey Regiment commanded by Col. Elias Dayton. Engaged in the Battle of Monmouth 22 Jun 1778.
He married 1) Sybil Hurd, and 2) Lois Wilcox. Children by Sybil: Hannah Brown Leonard (who married Levi Goodrich), David Hurd Leonard and Stephen Leonard.
After war, the family moved to Lee, Berkshire Co., MA (abt 1787-1797), then to Herkimer, NY (abt 1799-1802), then to Manlius, NY (abt 1807).
