Marian T. SCOTT

Marian Theresa Scott Age 81 years, of Wilmington, passed away Friday November 26, 1999 at Christiana Hospital surrounded by her closest loved ones. She was preceded in death by her beloved Husband, Vincent Xavier Scott who passed away in 1967. Marian and Vincent's tomb stone in Cathedral Cemetery takes the shape of 2 hearts intertwined as one with the inscription, "the Lord watch between me and thee when we are absent one from the other." Marian picked this symbol and inscription 32 years ago to match a locket sent to her by Vincent when he was stationed as a soldier in Japan during World War II. Now, they are reunited in Heaven with God and continue to light the way for their loved ones here on Earth.

Marian was blessed with abundant energy and perfect health until this Fall when she was diagnosed with Cancer. In her final months, despite the pain, shortness of breath, and the loss of her voice, she never wavered in her devotion to family, church, or friends. She insisted on keeping a perfect house and helping others up until the day of her death. Marian was totally devoted to her 3 boys, Vinnie, Ray and Kevin. She was Kevin's Guardian Angel. Her children were her life.

Less than 5 feet tall and 95 pounds, "Little Marian" was known to many in Wilmington for the enthusiasm and "take charge attitude" that she brought to all of her jobs. Over the past 4 decades she has worked at Eddie's Liquors, Grape 'N Grain Liquors, Lady Diana's House of Shoes, Dunkin' Donuts, Jamesway, St. Elizabeth Cafeteria, Little Viking Daycare and Salesianum Bingo. Marian prepared all of the mailings for the St. Elizabeth Alumni Newspaper and she was an avid football fan of Vinnie Scott's St. Mark's Spartans. Her favorite color was purple.

Marian Scott is survived by her 3 Sons, Vincent Scott and his Wife Debbie, Ray Scott and his Wife Brenda, and Kevin Scott; her Grandchildren, Suzanne Painter, Ray (Hooter) Scott, Stephanie Antenucci, Jennifer Vinci, Charley Powers and Jacqueline Corbin; her 8 Great Grandchildren; her Sister, Amelia DeBonaventura and her Brother Neal Shavack. She is predeceased by her Husband, Vincent X. Scott and her Brother, Maurice Shavack. Maurice died in the Battle of the Bulge, World War II.

Friends are invited to a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Elizabeth Church on Tuesday, at 11 a.m.; the Mass will be preceded at 10 a.m. in the Church for visitation time with Marian's family and friends. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to the St. Elizabeth Student Development Center, CO: St. Elizabeth Capital Campaign Office, St. Elizabeth School, 1500 Cedar Street, Wilmington, DE 19805. Interment will immediately follow Mass in Cathedral Cemetery, Lancaster Avenue, Wilmington, DE. For more information, you may call CORLETO-LATINA FUNERAL HOME.
