Born March 8, 1916 at Ronceverte WV, he was the son of the late Bernie Coe and Margaret Ann "Maggie" Morgan Weikle.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Theldra Humphries and Dorothy Buckland, and five brothers, Lawrence Weikle, Wheeler Weikle, Layman Weikle, Cebert Weikle, and Mark Weikle.
Mr. Weikle was a utilities foreman with the Federal Bureau of Prisons , Alderson , WV., retiring after 20 years of service. He was also a former employee of the Industrial Rayon Corporation in Covington, VA.
He was a member of The Church Of The Incarnation, Ronceverte WV., where he was a member of the Vestry and served as senior warden.
Mr. Weikle was a World War II Veteran, having served in the United States Army Air Corps as a pilot on a B-24, flying 40 missions in the European Theater. He served in the United States Air Force Reserves, retiring as a Major after 20 years.
He was a 45 year member of the Alderson Lions Club, where he had served as a past president and held other offices.
He was a member of Tri-County Memorial VFW Post 6723, Alderson WV. ,and a former member of the Lewisburg Elks Club, where he enjoyed many rounds of golf with good friends.
Survivors include his wife of 68 years, Lettie Brady Weikle of Alderson WV.; a daughter, Susan Bowyer and her husband Roger of Alderson; two grandchildren, Jason Richard Bowyer and his wife Cara of Jacksonville, Fla. and Amanda Lea Bowyer of Alderson; a brother, Warren Weikle and his wife Ruth of Denver, Colo.; three sisters-in-law, Ileita Weikle, and Mary Weikle of Covington VA. And Betty Weikle of Charleston WV.; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be Saturday at 11:00 a.m. at The Church Of The Incarnation, Ronceverte, WV. With the Rev. Keith Butler officiating.
Burial will be at 2:00 p.m. in Cedar Hill Cemetery in Covington, VA.
Friends may visit with the family one hour prior to services at the church Saturday.
Family, friends and members of the Alderson Lions Club will serve as pallbearers. Members of the Alderson Lions Club will serve as honorary pallbearers.
Military funeral honors will be conducted by the Curtis A. Smith Post 1033, Veterans of Foreign Wars, Covington.
