Richard Neil "Dick" Moran, 70, a resident of Willow Gardens Care Center in Marion, formerly of Cedar Rapids, died at the care center, Wednesday, June 10, 2009, after a short illness. Services: 11:00 a.m. Saturday, June 13, 2009, at Murdoch Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Marion, by Rev. Tammy Buseman. The family will greet friends from 4-7 p.m. Friday, June 12, 2009, at the funeral home. Burial: Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery, Cedar Rapids.

Survivors include his sister, Beverly (Henry) Swalley of Marion; and many nieces and nephews including Phil (Mary) Tucker of Marion.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Cornelius and Helen Moran; and one brother, Murland Moran.

Dick was born October 21, 1938, in Mitchell, Iowa, to Cornelius and Helen (Cook) Moran. Richard was a graduate of Roosevelt High School in Cedar Rapids, where he learned his trade of printing by printing the school paper and bulletins. He worked as a printer for 43 years at several area printing businesses, including Lilly Printing in Cedar Rapids, before retiring in 2001. Dick enjoyed classical music, attending Iowa football games, and was an avid book reader, especially of science. He was very interested in painting and extremely proud of his Ducati (Italian made) motorcycle. He was also a staunch Ford man, and liked cats and usually had one.
