Billy Dean Siegrist, age 79, of South Hutchinson, Kansas, passed away Sunday, November 25, 2001, at the Hutchinson Hospital.
He was born June 27, 1922 at Hutchinson, KS to Alpha George and Hazel Urdine (Glass) Siegrist. They were residents of Sedan, Kansas from 1955 to 1990, then returning to Hutchinson.
Billy graduated from Hutchinson High School. He was employed as a Soil Conservationist Technician for the U. S. Department of Agriculture, retiring in July of 1977 after thirty-four years. He was a member of the Sedan United Methodist Church, VFW, NARFE (National Association of Retired Federal Employees) and he was a Veteran of WWII serving with the 38th Air Engineer Squadron.
He married Leona Mae Hockett on March 15, 1943 in Marysville, Kansas. She preceded him in death on September 8, 1985.
He is survived by one son, Dana Siegrist, South Hutchinson, KS and one daughter, Barbara Davis, Dallas, TX, sisters, Velma Zimmerman, St. John, KS, Verna Schroder and Patty Robertson, both of South Hutchinson, KS and three grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by twin sister, Betty Brown and infant sister, Emma Siegrist, four brothers, Lamoin, Floyd, Harlan and infant brother, Elvin.
Funeral services were held at South Hutchinson United Methodist Church on Tuesday, November 27, 2001, at 1:30 p.m. Graveside services followed at Memorial Park with Rev. Linda Willey officiating.
Memorials may be sent to the American Diabetes Association in care of the Elliott Mortuary, 1219 N. Main, Hutchinson, KS 67501, which was in charge of the arrangements.
