Bush platted developments and built homes throughout the community, usually in partnership with his close friend Henry True. In addition to his real estate business, Bush was also the co-founder of the Marion Hatchery that stood on the S.W. corner of State Route 309 and Pole Lane Road. The Hatchery operated from 1922 until the late 1970s.
Married to Margaret L. Jones in 1882, the couple raised their five children (Edson, Grace, Roy, Metta and Dorothy) on their apple and cherry farm, Cherry Hill Farm, on what is now East Center Street in Marion.
Following his wife's death from TB in 1911, he married his sister-in-law Ethel M. Jones in 1912. They had one son, Eli Elmore Bush.
An avid fisherman, he spent most of the 1920s traveling and fishing with his wife and friend Henry True.
E.E. Bush died in Columbus, Ohio, at Grant Hospital in 1929. In addition to his wife, his children, and grandchildren, he was also survived by three sisters, and a brother.
Bush's son Edson would work his way through the business at Henry True's Marion County Bank, and ultimately become President of that organization.
