Maude Craig Allen was born September 20, 1879 in Owego-Kioga County, New York. Her parents were Jonathan and Mary (Milne) Horehouse.

She was the widow of veteran James D. Craig, who died in 1935. She applied for admission to the Washington Veterans' Home in Retsil on 27 July 1929 at the age of 58 years. She and Mr. Craig had married on May 17, 1920 at Vancouver, Washington. She was a resident of Tacoma in Pierce County.

She was admitted to the Veterans' Home on August 15, 1929.
In 1947, she married Fred M. Allen, a resident of the Home.

She died June 6, 1956, age 76, at the Washington Veterans' Home Hospital. Graveside services were held on Friday, June 8, 1956 at the Home cemetery.
