GILMAN - Visitation for Francis R. Albee, 85, of Gilman, will be from 4-8 p.m. today at the Redenius Funeral Home in Gilman and from 10 a.m. Wednesday until the 11 a.m. services at the United Methodist Church in Gilman, where he was a member.
The Rev. Leon McClimans will officiate.
Burial, with military rites by the Gilman American Legion Post, will be in Brenton Cemetery, Piper City.

Memorials may be made to his church or to the donor's choice.

Mr. Albee died suddenly Saturday (Feb. 13, 1999) in Sarasota, Fla.

He was born Aug. 23, 1913 in Chatsworth, the son of David and Margaret Elbert Albee.

He was a graduate of Piper City.

Mr. Albee was consignee for Texaco Oil Company, operating the Gilman Bulk Plant. He retired in 1976. He also worked for Gibson Federal Savings and Loan at its location in Gilman for seven years.

Surviving are his wife, the former Marietta Underwood, whom he married Sept. 29, 1934 in Milford; one daughter and son-in-law, Sally and Jack Legan of Gilman; two grandchildren, Greg and Peggy Legan of Murphysboro and Susie and David Gibbs of Kankakee; three great- grandchildren; and one sister, Marie Overacker of Piper City.

Deceased are two sisters, Blanche Phipps and Gertrude Kurtenbach; and one brother, Harold Albee.

Francis was active in his church, serving as chairman of the finance committee for the New United Methodist Church in Gilman.

A veteran of World War II, he served in the Army with the 30th Infantry Div., receiving two Bronze Stars and a Purple Heart.
He was a member of the Gilman American Legion, the Gilman Rotary and Gilman IOOF Foresters.
