"TWO SELBY BROTHERS DROWNED

George, Laban and Oscar Selby of Peoria, IL were out duck hunting Friday [24 March 1893] when George and Oscan went in one skiff and other brother [Laban] went alone. The wind was high and by some mishap the boat was overturned and the two men were thrown out. The other brother [Laban] was unable on account of the wind, to render them any assistance, and both were drowned. The brothers were all grown men. One [George] leaves a family of seven children.
Later particulars are to the effect that the homes of the two men [George and Oscar] were at the town of Leisure, near Arcola [Douglas county, IL], on the line of the Vandalia railroad. They had been at Peoria on a hunting expedition."
