Funeral services for William L. Harris, Denton County native, who died in St. Louis in a veterans' hospital early Monday, were held Thursday morning in the Justin Baptist Church, conducted by the pastor, Rev. H. L. Sampson. The Curry quartet sang by request "No Tears" and "When They Ring Those Golden Bells."
Burial was in the Justin cemetery and pallbearers were Bob Tidwell, Frank Butler, Buster Gibbs, Beane Robinson of Strawn, Bob Seely and L. S. Forester. A military service was held at the cemetery, conducted by four members of the American Legion Post here. Lee Preston, Henry Owsley, Arthur Wilkinson and Zed Terry, with two Boy Scouts sounding taps.
Harris was in the service of the U. S. Army, having joined in July 1918 and continued in the service until his illness began last November.
Many relatives and friends from Denton and other points in the county attended the services and samong those from more distant places were w. B. Hood of Aledo, Mrs. Nannie Andrews and son, Vernal, of Archer City, Mr. and Mrs. W. L. George, Mrs. Frank Cox and Mrs. T. S. Wyman of Fort Worth, Mrs. Tom Reynolds of Dallas and Miss Rose Blette of St. Louis.
