FORD - Sarah Catherine, daughter of Ivan and Melissa Lodge, was born on a farm east of Russell on September 1, 1879 and passed away at the Pleasant Care Nursing Home in Pleasantville on July 5, 1966.
On July 24, 1902, she was united in marriage to Dennis Bernard Ford, with whom she spent 53 years before his death on August 27, 1955. To them were born four children: Carmen Ford, of Washington, D.C., Phyllis DeBok and Ivan Ford, of Russell and Josephine Reed of Altoona.
Sarah Catherine was the youngest in a family of 11 children, all of whom preceded her in death. Surviving her, besides her four children, are a daughter-in-law, Kathleen Ford; two sons-in-law, Carroll DeBok and James Reed; six grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Nora Adams of El Paso, Texas; and nieces and nephews.
She has been for many years a member of the Russell Methodist church. Her interest in her home, church and the community filled her days. Her cheerful attitude and constant faith in the future endeared her to many.

The funeral services were conducted by the Rev. Bob D. Davis at the Russell Methodist church on July 8, 1966, at 2 p.m. Jo DeBok and Doris Winsor provided the music. Casket bearers were Gary Ford, Doyle DeBok, Donald Pierce, Cecil Palmer, Dean Chapman and Wilford Winsor. Interment was in the Russell Cemetery.
Those from a distance who attended the funeral were Mr. and Mrs. Bill Kauffman, Audubon and Mr. and Mrs. Thurman Clark, Des Moines.
