On August 2, 1950, Will Tallent and sons, Loren, Dan and Bill, were sawing out a barn pattern on their farm on the Marquand-Patton Road when he picked up a slab to carry it away from the saw. The slab caught the saw and threw him onto it. One leg was cut off and he died on the way to the hospital.
