ROCKVILLE — David A. Marlar, 53, of Rockville, died at 5:05 a.m. Tuesday, June 2, 2009, at Vermillion Convalescent Center in Clinton. He was a laborer. He was born April 22, 1956, in Clinton, to Ivan Alton "Ike" Marlar and Donath Bryant Marlar. He is survived by his mother, Donath Marlar of Rockville; two brothers, Vernon Marlar of Tavares, Fla., and Dwayne "Shorty" Marlar of Rockville; two sisters, Denzel Marlar of Mansfield, and Denise Cuffle of Terre Haute; and several nieces and nephews. He attended New Bethel Community Church, and was a Rockville High School graduate. He was a member of the National Rifle Association. Services will be 10 a.m. Friday, June 5, 2009, at Gooch Funeral Home, 112 W. Howard St., with the Rev. Don Perry officiating. Burial will follow at Mount Olivet Cemetery in Catlin. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday, June 4, 2009. Memorial contributions, if friends so desire, may be made in his memory to American Diabetes Association, Memorial and Honor Program, PO Box 11454, Alexandria, VA 22312; or American Heart Association, 6100 W. 96th St., Suite 200, Indianapolis, IN 46278.
