Dr. Robert Thomas Lile

SHELBYVILLE LILE, DR. ROBERT THOMAS, 86, died Friday, June 5, 2009 at the Masonic Home in Shelbyville. Dr. Lile, a longtime resident of Louisville, was born on October 29, 1921 in Leitchfield, KY to Ezra Lile and Ada (Lile) Witt. In 1946, he married Lillian Poteet of Kyrock, KY, who preceded him in death in 2007. Surviving Dr. Lile are one sister, Ruby W. Dale of Louisville; daughters, Pamela L. Hedden (Jene) of Shelbyville and Patricia Ann Jumper (Christopher) of Putnam Valley, NY. He is also survived by grandsons, Matt E. Hedden (Ashley) of Shelbyville and Christopher Jumper of Putnam Valley; granddaughters, Rachel King, (Chris) of Lexington, KY, and Alexandra and Samantha Jumper of Putnam Valley; and two great grandchildren, Cameron and Emma Hedden of Shelbyville. Dr. Lile served in the U.S. Navy in World War II. He later attended Lincoln Chiropractic College in Indianapolis, IN, graduating in 1953. He practiced in Louisville, on South Shelby Street, and later with Dr. John Bowles on Preston Highway. In 2005, he and his wife Lillian relocated to Shelbyville to be close to family. He was a member of the Star Baptist Church. Dr. Lile suffered from failing health for several years and moved to Masonic Home in 2006. The funeral service will be 11 a.m. Saturday, June 13, 2009 at the Shannon Funeral Home, 1124 W. Main, Shelbyville, with burial in Evergreen Cemetery, Louisville. Visitation is 4-8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Sunrise Children's Home, P.O. Box 36570, Louisville, KY 40233-9909 or Gideon's International.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Lillian Poteet. He is survived by a sister, Ruby W. Dale, of Louisville; daughters Pamela L. Hedden of Shelbyville and Patricia Ann Jumper of Putnam Valley, NY; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
