Mother: Cecil Mary Christensen Andersen (1855-1928), born Denmark. Married Denmark.

Chris came to America in 1881 with his parents. They settled in the Elk Horn area of southwest Iowa which was predominately Danish at the time. In 1895 he became a naturalized citizen when his parents became U.S. citizens. In 1900 Chris was living in the household of his brother Andrew and sister Mary and was farming.

Described as short, medium build, blue eyes, dark hair. 1925 census states his last grade of school completed was 6th grade.

Chris married Dora Christina Backsen, 11 March, 1904, in Audubon Co., Iowa. Dora was born 1881, Grove City, Iowa, and died 1960, Elk Horn, Iowa. Chris and Dora had seven children; Earl Ray, Leo Harold, Arlo Monroe, Avery W., Ramona Elizabeth Marie, Orvetta and Annabel. 1930 census shows 6 children still in the household and they were farming. They celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in March 1954.

At the time of his death, Chris was survived by all seven of his children, one sister, three brothers, 30 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren.
