The fourth son of Prentice & Elizabeth (Kinne) Kinne, Mason & his two brothers, Elbridge & Hildreth purchased the interests of the two older sons, in order to keep the old family farm undivided in the family. He married Mary Jane Spaulding of Clarkson, Monroe Co. NY on January 30, 1840. They were the parents of five children, four sons & one daughter. The daughter died at about four years of age and the son, Ansel Kinne, died at thirteen years.

The death of Mr. Mason Kinne who has been sick a long time occurred on the second. Mr. Kinne was 81 years of age and an honorable upright man, one whose exemplary life was a lesson to all. The funeral was held at the house Wednesday at 11 a.m. Rev. E. J. Brooker of the M. E. church officiated. Mr. Kinne left a wife and three sons to mourn his loss. Interment was made in the DeWitt cemetery.
