On the morning of Sunday, November 25, 2007, Betty L. Eddings passed away peacefully at home at the age of 74. Betty was born on February 24, 1933 in Albuquerque, NM to Albert and Alma Phillips, but she lived the majority of her life in Las Cruces. She graduated from Las Cruces High School in 1951. She married Russell Eddings on September 23, 1951. They lived briefly in Hatch and Carrizozo but made their home in Las Cruces. Betty retired after 17 years as a Health Assistant with the Las Cruces Public Schools. This introduced her to many lasting friendships. Betty and Russ were active members of the Telephone Pioneer Club. Betty was also a member of the Rebekah Lodge and the Eagles Lodge at one time.

She was preceded in death by her parents and a half brother and a half sister. She leaves behind her husband, Russell and three sons; David and his wife, Elizabeth of Avondale, AZ, Don and his wife, Debi of Albuquerque, NM and their sons, Daniel and Christopher and Doug of Las Cruces and one daughter, Sandi and her husband, Greg of Peyton, CO and their sons, Josh and Aaron. Betty is also survived by her mother-in-law, Janet Eddings-Miller of Golden Mesa Retirement Village in Las Cruces. Betty also leaves behind many wonderful friends.

Pallbearers will be David Eddings, Don Eddings, Greg Esparsen, Joseph Gonzales, Herb Hardin and Rawley Jackson. Honorary pallbearers will be John Crawley and John Wainwright.

A visitation will be held from 5 to 7 PM on Wednesday, Nov. 28, 2007 at Getz Funeral Home. Funeral Services to celebrate Betty's life are at 12 Noon Thursday, Nov. 29, 2007 also at Getz Funeral Home with Dr. Frank Zamora officiating. Burial will be at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens Cemetery.

The family would like to thank the Mesilla Valley Hospice for their wonderful staff that helped our family during this difficult time especially Mary Jane, Renee and Reverend Frank. You will always have a special place in our hearts for your compassion and dedication.
