Epimenio M. Ontiveros, 72, of Las Cruces died Friday, June 5, 2009. Eppy as he was fondly known was born Feb. 8, 1937 in Marfa, Texas to Manuel and Isabel Ontiveros.

He was a carpenter with Local Union #1245 after many years of faithful service. Eppy never met a stranger and was always willing to help anyone in need. He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed fishing but his passion was for his family. He will be deeply missed by all is family and friends who knew and loved him.

He is survived by his sons Manuel Ontiveros of San Jose, CA, Themetrio Ontiveros of Hemet, CA and Javier Ontiveros and fiancé Veronica DeLaO of Las Cruces; daughters Lucy Rodriguez and husband Cruz of Las Cruces, Nancy Ontiveros and husband Tony Padilla of Tierra Amarilla, NM and Christina Torres and husband Joe of Waco, TX. Many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews also survive Eppy.

Preceding him in death are his parents, son Gabriel and brother Rudy.

A visitation will be held from 5 to 6 PM on Wednesday, June10, 2009 at Getz Funeral Home where a prayer vigil will follow at 6:00 PM. Eppy's funeral mass is at 10:00 AM on Thursday, June 11, 2009 at Our Lady of Health Catholic Church. Rite of Committal will be at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens Cemetery.

Pallbearers are Ernest Jr., Ruben and Johnny Valenzuela, Manuel, Themetrio, Javier and Isabel Ontiveros.
