Howard V. Allgaier, 86, St. Joseph, passed away June 5, 2009, at a St. Joseph health care center.
Howard was born on Nov. 8, 1922, in Easton, Mo., to Michael S. and Margurite (Dunbar) Allgaier.
He was a member of St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church; Catholic Order of Foresters; and American Legion Post No. 359. He served in the Army during WW II. Following the War, he worked for Standard Oil Company, retiring in 1984, after 38 years of service.
Howard was preceded in death by his parents; and three brothers, William, John and James Allgaier.
On Feb. 26, 1946, he married Florita Reardon in Hurlingen, Mo. She survives of the home.
Other survivors include two sons, Craig A. Allgaier and Michael S. (Alisa) Allgaier of Kansas City, Mo.; sisters, Betty Jean Chappel, Camarillo, Calif., Mary Grace Sprague, St. Joseph; one brother, Joseph A. (Janette) Allgaier, Plattsburg, Mo.; grandchildren, Nathaniel, Annie and Zachary.
Mass of Christian Burial: 11 a.m. Wednesday, St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, St. Joseph. Interment: Mount Olivet Cemetery, St. Joseph. A luncheon to follow. Visitation will begin after 10 a.m. Tuesday, Heaton-Bowman-Smith & Sidenfaden Chapel, St. Joseph, where the family will receive friends 6 to 8 p.m. with a Rosary at 7 p.m.
The family suggests memorials to St. Francis Xavier Building Fund.
