Carlos met his wife of 72 years, Mrs. Gladys (Wiedeman) Goodman at a church service in the Shiloh Baptist Church near Corning in 1938. They dated for three years and were united in marriage on July 27, 1941. Carlos moved his bride to the Goodman farm and began farming the next year with a team of horses and a one row tractor. In 1943 they purchased the land and the house his father had built in 1902 in the Grassylead Community, living there until they retired in 1981 when the moved into Corning.
Carlos served Shiloh Baptist Church for 8 years as Training Union Director; he became church treasurer in 1983 and faithfully served in this capacity until January of 2013. He served as a board member for the Richwoods Cemetery Association from 1966 until 2009, he also served 8 years on the Board of Directors for the Datto Coop Gin.
He is survived by his wife Gladys Goodman of the home; his son Jerry Goodman and wife Gayle of Corning, AR., three grandchildren Blake Goodman and wife Cathy of Corning, AR., Bysshe and husband Steve Borris of Jonesboro, AR., Charnelsa and husband Tom Powell of Jonesboro, AR.; seven great-grandchildren Kallee and husband Andy Crittenden, Trevor and Mattea Pyle, Hannah and Macey Powell, Caroline and Ava Goodman.
He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers Don, Herman and Charlie Goodman; six sisters Ivy Leonard, Myrtle Smith, Daisy Galamore, Bea Cobb, Pearlie Lincoln and Pauline Loydd.
Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday, March 25, 2014 at 12:00 PM in the Ermert Funeral Home Chapel in Corning, AR., with Reverend Carl Thomason and Cliff Gifford officiating. Burial will follow the services at Richwoods Cemetery in Corning. Visitation will be held Tuesday, March 25, 2014 from 10:00 AM until the time of services.
