Riley R. Folk, 70, 614 E.Smith, retired mail carrier, died at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday in University Hospital, Ann Arbor, MI.
He had been a patient there for the past ten days and had been in ill health for the past month.
Born Sept. 21, 1889, in Leipsic, he was the son of Lemuel and Ida (Dayringer) Folk.
He enlisted in the US Army in 1917 and was discharged in 1919. The same year, he and Goldie Houser were married.
They lived in Hicksville where he engaged in factory work until about 1930, when he became associated with the post office. He retired in 1959. He then took a part-time job at Community Memorial Hospital.
He was a member of the Grace United Methodist Church, a charter member and past commander of the Hicksville VFW and a former member of the American Legion.
Surviving are the widow: two daughters, Mrs. Vivian Wahl, Hicksville, and Mrs. Ora Ethel Burns, Bryan; two sons, Richard, Hicksville, and Raymond, Bryan; ten grandchildren; six great grandchildren; three sisters, Mrs. Hazel Schumaker, Council Bluffs, Iowa; Mrs. Betty Koontz, Orange, CA., and a brother Gilbert Folk of Auburn, IN. A son Paul receded him in death in 1944, during World War II.
Friends may call in Perkins-Reeb Funeral Home after 7:30 p.m. this evening and until noon Friday and then at Grace United Methodist Church prior to the funeral at 3 p.m.
The Rev. Edwin Myers, pastor of the church will officiate, and burial will be in Forest Home Cemetery, where the Antwerp American Legion will conduct militart services.
