Rev. Dorothy Jo Owens Parton, of Sevierville, passed away Wednesday, November 19, 2008. A singer/songwriter, Dorothy Jo, along with Dolly, wrote "Old Time Preacher Man" which received a BMI Award. Dorothy Jo recently released a book titled "Dolly's Hero, Sharing Mighty Mountain Voices". She received an Honorary Doctorate of Sacred Music from Emanuel Baptist University, served as an evangelist, and was retired from Dollywood where she performed for many years.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Rev. Jake and Rena Owens, sisters and brothers-in-law, Estelle and Dot Watson, Avie Lee and Robert Lee Parton, brothers, Lester Owens and Robert Henry Owens.
