Oppie Lee Houze Brand, 89, of Tifton, GA, died Thursday, March 15, 2001, at Tift Health Care in Tifton, GA.

Born May 21, 1911 in Heard County, GA, she was the daughter of the late Gus A. and Katie Formby Houze. She was the widow of Rev. Garnie Brand, a former pastor at Bruner's Chapel Baptist Church.

She was a retired school teacher, having taught at McAfee, and a member of Norman Park Baptist Church.

Survivors include: three daughters, Betty (Buford) Noel, Harrodsburg, Dot B. Griffin, Norman Park, GA, and Phyllis (Joseph) Fletcher, Chula, GA; one brother, Woodson Houze, Forest Park, GA; six grandchildren, including David and Teresa Noel and Karen and Jeff Million, all of Harrodsburg; 12 great grandchildren, including Katherine Noel, Kacey Stout, Jay Thomas Million and Kassidy Million, all of Harrodsburg. She was preceded in death by a grandson, Ben Griffin, a great granddaughter, Madalyn Bennett, a son-in-law, Harold Griffin, one sister and two brothers.

Funeral services were held Saturday, March 17, at Norman Park Baptist Church, Norman Park, GA, with Dr. Jimmy Voyles, Elder Jeff Harris and Rev. Paul Peace officiating. Burial was in Deep Bottom Cemetery in Colquitt County.

Pallbearers were Eric Fletcher, Darin Purvis, David Noel, Mike Bennett, Joel Brand, Charles Houze and Jerry Breed. Honorary bearers were great grandsons, Hal Bennett, Joe Jernigan, Dylan Purvis and Jay Thomas Million.
