Homer Stanton lived in Rockford all his life and married Blanche Walker on June 9, 1897. He was a member of Second Congressional church. Charter member and past president of Rockford Rotary club. Member of Rockford Country club, Mid-Day club and Illinois Seniors Golf association. H. Stanton was connected with Rockford National bank for 43 years. In 1934 he founded First Federal Savings & Loan association, of which he was president until 1957 when he became Chairman of the Board.

The Burpee family was instrumental in growing Rockford into the powerful city that it is today.

H. Stanton's parents (Alpheus Crosby and Harriet M. Burpee) came to Rockford in 1836 from New York and founded the first furniture store in the 100 block of W. State street.

His brother, Harry Burpee, was the founder of Burpee-Wood funeral home.

He had two daughters: Harriet Burpee Whitehead # 67776938 and Mrs. Addison Brown.

His sisters were Mary L. Burpee and Florence Burpee Huffman.
