Emma Diedrich was born June 17, 1881 in Peru, Ill., the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Gottfried Hartfiel. In 1889 the family moved to a farm in Miltona township, Douglas county, Minnesota.
In 1901 she was united in marriage to Gustave E. Diedrich. They made their home in Leaf Valley township.
Mrs. Diedrich died Aug. 5, 1965 at the Douglas County hospital at the age of 84 years, one month and 19 days.
Survivors include her husband, six daughters and five sons: Mathilda (Mrs. Fred Schmidt) of Almora, Olga (Mrs. Emil Freudenberg) of Parkers Prairie, Adelia (Mrs. Walter Freudenberg) of Parkers Prairie, Emma (Mrs. Clarence Raap) of Almora, Elda (Mrs. Waldemar Ruckheim) of Effington, Anna, at home, William A. of Urbank, Herman of South Effington, Clarence of Alexandria, Albert of Leaf Valley and Gustav Jr., at home.
Also surviving are 27 grandchildren, 50 great grandchildren, one sister, Amelia Gesell of Alexandria, two brothers, Herman at the Bethany Home in Alexandria, and Fred of Miltona.
She was preceded in death by five sisters, one brother and one grandchild.
