The funeral for James A. Pinkerton, 48, of 341 Proctor Ave., will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at St. Mary's Cathedral with Monsignor Leeward J. Poissant officiating. Entombment will be in Foxwood Memorial Park.
Mr. Pinkerton, former physical education teacher, baseball coach, and athletic director for the Ogdensburg City School District, died Monday at his home. He had been ill with cancer.
Donations may be made to the James A. Pinkerton Memorial Scholarship Fund, in care of the Ogdensburg City School District.
Surviving are his wife, three sons, his mother, Violet M. Pinkerton , Ogdensburg; two sisters, two brothers, and several nieces and nephews.
Born Sept. 4, 1947, in Ogdensburg, son of Arthur J. and Violet M. Tyo Pinkerton , he graduated from St. Mary's Academy in 1965 and Niagara University in 1969 with a bachelor's degree in physical education. He also attended St. Lawrence University, Canton, and Potsdam State University College.
He married Rose Patricia Irvine on Aug. 24, 1968, at St. Mary's Cathedral with Monsignor Joseph Bailey officiating.
Mr. Pinkerton was a physical education teacher at Ogdensburg Free Academy for many years and became athletic director for the Ogdensburg City School District in 1978.
He was varsity baseball coach and enjoyed carpentry and family activities.
He also was Section 10 baseball chairman and a member of the Section 10 executive council.
