Vail Items-The funeral services of the late Mr. Mort Hulce, who died at his home
in Vail Tuesday, Feb. 20, 1912, was held from the house Thursday at 11 o’clock,
Rev. J. Jas. DePree, of the Presbyterian church of Denison, officiating.
Interment was made in the Vail cemetery. Mr. Hulce had been ailing for some
time, but his death was unexpected. Bright’s disease was the immediate cause of
his death. Deceased was born March 17, 1850, at Fond du Lac, Wis. He was
married to Miss Josephine Niles at Cedar Rapids Iowa, in 1875. He came to this
county a few years later and settled on a farm in Hayes township, where he
farmed for several years, and where his wife died Dec. 6, 1900, and was buried
in the Vail Cemetery. The following year he moved to Vail, which has since been
his home. Deceased was a kind father and a good neighbor and had many friends.
He was the father of twelve children. They are: Mrs. W. E. Brockelsby, deceased,
Mrs. A. L. Badger, Mrs. I. L. Edison, E. M., T. J. and Herma of Los Angeles,
Calif.; Mrs. G. W. Slater, of Denison; Herschel, of Sioux City; Eva, Ora, Marie
and Hazel, who are at home.
The bereaved family have the sympathy of all in their affliction. Those who
attended the casket were: Tim Quirk, William Harrington, Clark White, W. H. Brockelsby, John Newton and Chris Mundy.
