HOUSTON - Claud Haven Brassfield, 78, died Monday, July 14, 2008, at his home. He was born April 25, 1930, in Chickasaw County. He was a carpenter and painter, and a member of the First Pentecostal Church.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at the First Pentecostal Church. Max Brassfield, the Rev. Charles Flake and the Rev. Kenneth Wilson will officiate. Burial will be in Wesley Chapel Cemetery in Houston. Memorial Funeral Home of Houston is in charge of the arrangements.

Survivors include his wife, Faye Clemons Brassfield; one son, Max Brassfield (Teresa) of Pontotoc; six daughters, Rose Cole (Ronnie) of Houston, Barbara Atkins (Joe) of Pine Bluff, Ark., Reba Soden (Charles) of Okolona, Kay Audette (Tom) of Pontotoc, Susie Murphree (Scott) of Houston, Barbie Gill (Richie) of Houston; two sisters, Inez Dotson and Mable Gann, both of Houston; 17 grandchildren, 32 great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; his caregivers, Sylvia Wright and Barbara Foote.
He was preceded in death by his parents, L.T. Brassfield and Ida Blansett Clemons; three brothers, Eliott "Bud" Brassfield, Jim "Red" Brassfield and Rex "Chris" Brassfield; and a sister, Lizzy Buford.
Pallbearers will be his grandsons, Keith Cole, Scott Atkins, Robert Brassfield, Paul Brassfield, Heath Soden, Drew Audette, Jeremy Murphree, Jerad Murphree C.J. Murphree, Justin Gill and Cooter Henson.

Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. today at the First Pentecostal Church in Houston. The body will lie in state at the church from 10 a.m. to service time Thursday.
