Spartanburg Hearld Obituary, Aug. 28, 1934,page 3. Gowensville - Aug. 27 - Mrs. D. G. ATKINS, widow of the late DEAN GORDON ATKINS, died at her residence late this afternoon after a short illness. She was born and reared in Spartanburg County and was a devoted member of Motlow Creek Baptist Church, residing in the Motlow Creek section. She is survived by three sons: MONROE and GLENN ATKINS of Campobello Route 2, and CARL ATKINS of Waynesville, NC; four daughters, Mrs. G. M. DAVIS of Route 2 Campobello, Mrs. G. H. RUNYAN of Route 3 Inman, and Miss IRENE ATKINS and Miss MYRTLE ATKINS of Route 2 Campobello; two brothers GEORGE ASHMORE and J. M. ASHMORE of Appalachia Mills Greer; three sisters, Mrs. W. F. BOMAR of Route 2 Greer, Mrs. J. W. TAPP of Seneca and Mrs. MAMIE ALLEN of Lockhart; also a great-aunt, SARAH ATKINS. Funeral services will be held Tuesday afternoon at 4 o'clock at the Motlow Creek Baptist Church, conducted by the pastor, the Rev. B. P. HALL. The following nephews will act as pallbearers: CLAUDE TAPP, JAMES BOMAR, JOHN PRICE, JEROME FISHER, HUBERT FOWLER, and ELBERT ATKINS. The following are asked to assemble before the funeral and act as honorary pallbearers; C. Y. CARRUTH, J. H. MILLS, BOYD MILLS, R. P. TURNER, ROBERT TURNER, W. B. LANCE, J.H. STAGGS, F. A. LOFTIS, D.
