Kurt Jahr Funeral Held Wednesday
Funeral services were held Wednesday at 2:00 o'clock from the Grace Lutheran Church for Kurt F. Jahr, 64, who died in the Leavenworth Hospital Sunday night following a short illness, with Rev. Robert Oestreich officiating. Funeral arrangements were under the direction of the Kuelbs and Braun Funeral Home. Mrs.!Robert Oestreich sang accompanied by Mrs. Robert Morse.
Born in Germany July 23, 1885, Mr. Jahr came to the United States with his parents when he was six year old. They settled in Iowa where he grew to manhood. On July 11, 1906 he married Emily Schweder at Milwaukee, Wis., and following their marriage they moved to Chicago, Ill., residing there 11 years when they moved to Spirit Lake, Iowa. They came to Washington in 1912 and to Cashmere in 1916 where Mr. Jahr was engaged in the sheet metal business.
He was a member of the Cashmere Grace Lutheran Church receiving his baptism in infancy and was confirmed at the age of 14 years. Mr. Jahr was also a member of the Cashmere Grange.
Surviving are his wife, Emily, three sons, Harold of Leavenworth, Norman of Yakima and Edward of Des Moines, Iowa, one brother, Gus in Minnesota and eight grandchildren.
Casket bearers were Henry Quehrn, Curtis Hull, Mr. Warner, Mr. Rockenfield, Mr. Dormaier and H. Rieke. Burial was in the Cashmere Cemetery.
