Rees R. Llewellyn worked in the coal mines from the time he was a very small boy. He was baptized in to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints on April 7, 1850.
Rees married Ann Llewellyn on January 29, 1854 in Myrthr Tydvil, Glamorganshire, Wales. They sailed for the United States on April 19, 1856. They crossed the plains with the Edward Bunker handcart company. They settled in Fountain Green, where Rees was the postmaster.
Rees was the father of eleven children, five boys and six girls; Julia Ann, Margaret Eleanor, Reese William, Gomer David, Mellissa, John Thomas, Mary Katherine, Benjamin Franklin, Ester Rosalia, Henry Watkins, and another daughter was stillborn and not named.
Rees died on July 10, 1905.
