George W Conner, 70, of 3090 East Lake Rd, Skaneateles, died Saturday, January 9 at home. Born in Beckley, W Va, Mr Conner lived in Skaneateles since 1958. He was sales manager for Nationwide Insurance Co for 38 years, retiring in 1973. He was a member and elder of the First Presbyterian Church. He was also active in the Cayuga-Syracuse Presbytery. He was a member of the Lakeland Masonic Lodge of Roanoke, Va, the Harrisburg Consistory and Zembo Shrine Temple. He was a volunteer with Friends in Service Here and past president of the East Lake Assn.
Surviving are his wife, the former Marion Reynolds; two sons, George W Conner Jr of Montrose, Pa, and William R Conner of Lewiston, Me; two daughters, Nancy Bruce of Cleveland, Ohio, and Sally Lincoln of East Aurora; a brother, William Y Conner of Dayton, Ohio, and six grandchildren.
Services were held Tuesday, in the First Presbyterian Church, Skaneateies, the Rev Earle L Eastman and Dr Leland Jamison officiated. Burial will be in East Bridgewater Cemetery, Montrose, Pa. Contributions may be made to the First Presbyterian Church of Skaneateies memorial fund or the American Cancer Society. Arrangements were handled by B L Bush and Sons Funeral Home, Skaneateles.
