Elias Nelson Devinney was born May 2, 1857 to Isaac and Eleanor Sutphen Devinney in Chesterfield, Michigan. In 1883 he came to Nebraska where on March 14th of that year he married Emeline Lott, daughter of Fredrich and Ann Green Lott. From this union one daughter, Annie, was born. This daughter, Mrs. Elmer Pratt, with the wife, Mrs.Devinney survive him. Death came Friday, March 3, 1830 at his home here in Kearney. Interment was in the Haven's Chapel (Prairie Center) Cemetery where he shall rest to await his call to his eternal home.
