Eva Marjorie Shelton, 84, of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma was the daughter of Ernest and Holly Dougherty. She was born July 4, 1924 in Abilene, Texas and died Thursday, June 4, 2009.

Eva married Rev. John B. Shelton on August 1, 1944 in Glendale, Arizona and they were blessed with 61 years of marriage. She was a wonderful partner in ministry with John. At the age of 40, Eva returned to college to get her degree and taught school for 32 years. She was an outstanding teacher and made an incredible impact on her students. She will be remembered for her passion for the Lord, love for her family and dedication to her students. Her fearless zest for life and contagious laugh will be missed.

Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, June 7, 2009 at the Metropolitan Baptist Church in Oklahoma City. Dr. Dan Griffin will officiate. Services are under the direction of Brown-Dugger Funeral Home. Memorial contributions may be made to: Crio Ministries, in care of Brown-Dugger Funeral Home, 1010 N. 7th Street, Perry, OK 73077.

Eva is survived by four daughters, Dr. Jean Anne Hattler, Janice and her husband, Dr. Ron Hesser, Margaret and her husband Paul Purifoy, and Ruthie and her husband, Dr. Terry Washburn one daughter-in-law, Cherrie Shelton fifteen grandchildren, twenty-one great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild and one sister, Holly Hankins.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, son John B. Shelton, Jr., two sisters and one brother.
