Anne Ackerman

Anne Ackerman, 90, of 1748 Gish Road, Manheim, died at home Tuesday May 26, 2009. She was the wife of the late William Ackerman Jr., who died in July 1992. She was the daughter of the late William and Emily Cosgrove Stains.

Mrs. Ackerman was a homemaker, and had worked in the Conestoga Valley High School cafeteria from 1958 till 1966; and later worked for Dart Container till 1971. She was a member of the Oregon Community United Methodist Church, Lititz. She enjoyed watercolor and oil painting; was a member of the Lancaster Art Assoc.; showed her art in Lancaster General Hospital; and taught a senior citizens art class at the Millersville Senior Center.

She leaves behind her children, Donald married to Barbara Graef, Rochester, NY, Irene married to Michael Legerlotz, Manheim; five grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; a sister, Imelda Weitzel, Lancashire Hall. A daughter, Linda A. Constein and a brother, William Stains preceded her in death.

The funeral will be 11 a.m. Friday, May 29, 2009 at Furman Home for Funerals, 59 W. Main St., Leola with interment following in the Oregon Community U. M. Cemetery. The viewing will be from 10-11 a.m. Friday. Memorials may be made to Hospice of Lancaster Co., PO Box 4125, Lancaster, PA 17604-4125.
