RIDGEVILLE - George "Ernest" Hiatt, 92, formerly of Ridgeville, died at St. Vincent Randolph Hospital, Winchester.

Mr. Hiatt was born Sept. 7, 1911, in Ridgeville, the son of the late Azor and Nellie Smith Hiatt. He attended Jefferson High School and attended Barber College in Fort Wayne.

He was a retired farmer and was a school bus driver for 6 years.

Mr. Hiatt was a member of Clear Creek Congregational Church and The Wise Owls Organization of Winchester.

He leaves to cherish his memory his wife of 36 years, Betty, Union City; two sons, Larry Hiatt (wife: Maria), Portland, and Larry Huffman (wife: Jean), Union City; three daughters, Eileen Ludwick (husband: LeRoy), Saratoga, Susan Owens (husband: Paris), Winchester, and Linda Brookman (husband: Kenneth), Union City; a sister, Wilma Fowler, Portland; six grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Robert, and two sisters, Wanda and Martha.

The funeral services are entrusted to Miller Mortuary, Chapel of Peace, Farmland, Tuesday, Dec. 16, at 2 p.m., at Five Points, Clear Creek Congregation Church, with the Rev. Stephen Conner officiating. Internment will be in Lawndale Cemetery, near Ridgeville.

Visitation will be 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Monday, Dec. 15, 2003, at the Miller Mortuary, Farmland, and an hour before the services on Tuesday at the church.

Memorials may be given to Clear Creek Congregational Church general fund.
