Gravemarker shows Jan. 12, 1848 - Sept. 18, 1935; age 92 years. The difference between 1935 and 1848 is 87 years. Its possible when they engraved the marker, they accidentally put 1848 instead of 1843. To keep from doing it over, they added 92 years at the bottom. The difference between 1935 and 1843 is 92 years.

His Death Certificate shows his age as 92 years, 8 months and 28 days. Which would make the birth year 1843
John Alderman's book "29th Virginia Infantry, The Virginia Regimental Historical Series," 1st Edition, p. 131. shows his date of birth as 1/?/1843.
